#Seinfeld: 10 Most Iconic Foods On The Show -BB

Seinfeld showed the gang of four seated at Monk’s where the main characters and the recurring ones bonded over food. „The show about nothing“ began with Jerry and George at the Monk’s cafe. The second topic that was discussed in there was food, well technically beverages. George had a minor argument with Claire, the waitress about whether or not his coffee was decaf.

Naturally, food was one of the central aspects of Seinfeld; be it the non-fat yogurt, Junior Mints, or the dessert in the trash. Today we decided to talk about the 10 most iconic foods on the show, so grand that they made us crave for them when our characters ate them.

10 The Fruit At Joe’s

In „The Mango,“ a peach altercation between Kramer and Joe, the owner of a fruit shop, leads to the former being banned from shopping at Joe’s. Kramer gets a bad peach and plum and refuses to acknowledge that it’s an act of God. He rushes to Joe’s and gives him an earful about his fruit. „You have to stand behind your fruit!“

For the fruit fanatic Kramer, the fruits at the supermarket are no good, „The apples are mealy, the oranges are dry, and God knows what’s going with the Papayas.“

As a result, Kramer sends Jerry fruit shopping at Joe’s for him. His fruit list is conspicuous: Five mangoes, avocados (soft, not too soft), plums like red onions on the inside,  and plantains from the banana family. Jerry is busted and banned from Joe’s store, too.

Meanwhile, Joe’s mango serves as a virality drug for George.

9 The Calzone

At the offices of Yankees, George gets Mr. Steinbrenner hooked to cheese, pepperoni, and eggplant Calzone. In a tip mishap, George is accused of stealing from Paisano’s and gets banned. Steinbrenner continues to be obsessed with Calzones as lunch items. You can’t blame the man, as from 1973 to 1982, he ate the exact same lunch every day, turkey chili in a bowl made out of bread.

First Newman and then Kramer pick Calzones for George. Newman calls in sick, Kramer pays in pennies and gets thrown out and poor Stein loses his mind.

8 Non-fat Yogurt

They put real blueberries and ground up coffee beans in the non-fat yogurt at the Frozen Yoghurt store. The had an array of delicacies; the banana split, double brownie and fudge, banana macadamia nut, wild blueberry, carrot cake, coffee mocha, and so much more. However, the yogurt was never non-fat! Elaine gained 7 pounds and Jerry 8.

A candidate in the fray for Mayor’s office, Rudy Giuliani clinched the election by the yogurt scandal. His blood cholesterol was reported to be 150 points higher, to the courtesy of Kramer and lab assistant’s mishap with his blood sample. When on TV, Rudy reported his indulgence to be the non-fat yogurt, Jerry called his office. That was it for the textured yogurt.

7 Roasted Bird

In „The Chicken Roaster,“ Kenny Rogers Roasters finally opened. The restaurant boasted of ‚Wood Fire Roasted Chicken‘ in neon lights. „It’s not fast food, good food served quickly,“ says Seth who works at Roasters.

Quite frankly, the chicken from Roasters was gross to look at. Not to mention, the blazing red lights coming off of the neon chicken roof into Kramer’s apartment almost killed him. Therefore, he bad-mouthed the restaurant, switched apartments with Jerry and while secretly still eating the chicken.

Newman picked ‚Family Feast‘ and ‚Steamed Broccoli‘ from the Roasters from Kramer and that’s how Kramer’s secret was out! Jerry found a way to shut Roasters menace by ruffling feathers of a hairy grey hat in there.

6 Eclair In The Trash

In „The Gymnast,” George actually took out a half-eaten Eclair from a trash can and devoured it. Sure the eclair looked clean but from a trash can? What’s worse, he did it at his girlfriend’s mother’s place. Mrs. Enright was horrified to see him eat a half-eaten Eclair right out the trash can.

According to George, the dessert wasn’t trash. According to Jerry, if it was in the trash, then it was trash. Even if the eclair was resting on top, on a magazine, above the rim, barely bitten, and hovering like an angel, it was still garbage!

5 Snickers Bars

There’s nothing special about an ordinary Snickers chocolate, but how about when it is eaten with a knife and fork? Elaine’s boss, Mr. Pitt, ate his Snickers Bars with a knife and fork. George says he probably didn’t want to get chocolate on his fingers, and that’s the way these society types eat their candy bars.

The pretentious little man that he is, George copies Mr. Pitts’s way of eating a Snickers Bars at his office meeting. George’s boss ends up doing it and from there on, the trend quickly catches on. Noreen does it, and so do the New Yorkers.

4 The Big Salad

Ah, the scrumptious salad from „The Big Salad.“ Elaine and Jerry meet George and Julie on the street. She asks George to bring her a big salad for lunch. It’s something that the coffee shop sells. It has „big lettuce, big carrots, and tomatoes like volleyballs.“

The big salad becomes the reason as to why George and Julie break up. The thing is, Julie hands over the salad bag to Elaine and accepts a thank you from her. It was the big salad, after all, Julie shouldn’t have claimed responsibility for it if she hasn’t bought it. Now, if it were a regular salad, George wouldn’t have said anything, but Elaine wanted to have THE BIG SALAD!

3 The Chocolate Babka

Not cinnamon but chocolate! The babka from Royal Bakery was the highlight of „The Dinner Party.“ It wasn’t the only food mentioned in the episode though, the bakery was full of delicacies such as the black and white cookie, carrot cake, black forest, napoleon, and etc. Their specialty, however, was Chocolate Babka.

Elaine wanted to grab the babka for Linda Van Grak’s party, it’s a shame she couldn’t get in line on time. Barbara Benedict beat Elaine to the last Babka. She ended up buying the lesser babka, the cinnamon one with hair on it.

2 Mackinaw Peaches

Although the episode, „The Gymnast,“ began with Jerry eating discarded pecan, it made us drool for the peaches. Maybe it was Kramer, maybe the peaches, but there was something about the Mackinaw Peaches. They made Kramer’s taste buds come alive.

Kramer did his physical comedy bit as he opened the door to Jerry’s with a huge peach. The Mackinaw Peaches are from Oregon and they are ripe only for two weeks a year. Kramer and Newman both dig the peaches, they wait all year just to get a taste. Therefore, it was no wonder that Kramer let loose Beauford, a dog, on Newman for eating the last one left at the store.

1 Soup

Have you ever been stunned by soup? Well if you tasted the soup at Soup Kitchen International IRL or at Hot Soup in Seinfeld, you would. Season 7’s „The Soup Nazi“ showed Yev Kassem selling the most delicious soups in the city. The only caveat was that customers had to know their soup and the order procedural or risk getting thrown out. „No Soup For You“, yelled the Nazi at those who sought to embellish their order.

The soups that watered our mouths were Jerry’s crab bisque, George’s turkey chili, Newman’s jambalaya, and Kramer/Elaine’s mulligatawny.
